JEN MOTE
Jen Mote began her performance career
over twenty years ago at Sault Gymnastics Club in Sault Ste. Marie. In conjunction
with competitive gymnastics and acro, she trained in tap, jazz and lyrical at
S.W.A.D.A, and quickly rose to the top as a gifted dancer. Her formal training
began in 1994 when she studied ballet at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, and
Toronto's National Ballet School. In 1999, Jen began to study across North America,
namely Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Tremaine Dance Convention in Detroit. She
began to teach and choreograph competitively for Sherry Walsh Dance Academy
and Sault Gymnastics Club, and began to build her professional resume. Jen began
to work with provincial level figure skaters, and choreographed for Suzy Shier,
China Doll and Le Chateau. She was a featured dancer for Art Gabriel, L'image
Model Search, "Reppies"- a children's video, and the opening ceremonies
for the Ontario Winter Games.
In 2002, Jen moved to Toronto to further pursue her professional career, and
broadened her training repetoire to modern, hip-hop, adage, aerial, acting,
and vocal training. She became an assistant to faculty member Richard Kim for
Triple Threat Dance Convention, and began teaching at Vlad's Dance Academy in
Richmond Hill. She has since performed for thousands on the Toronto Raptors
Dance Pak, can be seen on a promotional video for Superbowl XXXVII, and in industrials
for Remax, Bell Mobility, Maxim Magazine, and MAC Cosmetics. She has toured
internationally as the dance captain for Celebrity Cruiselines, and performed
on "The Toronto Show", The W Network's "Between The Sheets",
the up-coming movie "Barstool Words", Stardust Follies, and as a magician's
assistant for the "Magic of Rossini". Currently, Jen is a member of
Toronto-based jazz company Helix Productions, choreographed by Linda Garneau,
and has appeared in the live productions of "Every Now and Then" and
"Westside Stories".
Jen is certified from the B.A.T.D. to teach tap, jazz and ballet. She will be
teaching her rhythmic and unique style of jazz at OIP Dance's Summer Intensive.
