Sensei Chris Stafford
Sensei Chris Stafford is the founder of and instructor at Toronto Goju Ryu Karate, a martial arts club taught out of the OIP Dance Centre. He prides himself on teaching a traditional and practical martial art, while promoting a great workout. Chris has been training in Goju Ryu karate since 1993 under the tutelage of O'sensei McColl at McMaster University and before that time spent several years training and competed in sport wrestling.
Sensei Stafford has been able to complement his study of Goju Ryu by studying several other martial arts through workshops, seminars and private training sessions, including Aikido, Ju-jitsu, Kyoshu jitsu (pressure points), Kali and Gung Fu among others. He has also spent some time studying Kobudo (weapons) with O'Sensei McColl, including knife throwing. He counts his most influential teachers as O'Sensei McColl and Sensei Takayoshi Alvarez.
In addition to the twice-weekly classes he runs at the OIP Dance Centre, Sensei Stafford continues his weekly training at O'Sensei McColl's dojo at McMaster University.
Class registration can be arranged directly through Chris by dropping in immediately before or after one of his classes or by contacting him at info@torontogojuryu.com or 416-473-7732.
It's important to find a martial arts class that you're comfortable with before joining. To help you make this important decision, your first week of classes at Toronto Goju Ryu Karate is free.
Membership fees for Toronto Goju Ryu Karate are $55/ month. Please see www.torontogojuryu.com for details.
