Jessica Campbell started her dance training in Toronto, Ontario at the Claude Watson School for the Arts. After developing her talent further, Jessica was highly involved in the competitive dance scene with All That Dance – winning numerous awards including C.D.M.A. Teen Miss Dance 1997, and Canada’s Dancer of the Year 2001. Jessica also took a special interest in ballet and completed her advanced Royal Academy of Dancing examination with Honours.
After spending summers training intensely in ballet and modern at the Banff Center for the Arts and graduating from the dance program at Earl Haig Secondary School, she decided to further her education in the States on a generous scholarship. Jessica graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Conservatory of Dance at State University of New York, Purchase College in May 2005. Upon graduating, Jessica spent the following two years working and performing with Forces of Nature Dance Theatre (contemporary company – New York, New York) and the Rebecca Davis Dance Company (contemporary ballet company – Philadelphia, PA).
Jessica has traveled throughout the States as well as Canada both performing and teaching various styles, techniques and genres of dance to all ages and levels. Since returning back to Toronto in January 2007, Jessica has guest taught and choreographed at numerous schools in the greater Toronto Area. Jessica is part of the talented faculty – teaching and choreographing for children at JCB Danceworks. Since June 2007, she has had the honour of working with pre-professional and professional dancers at OIP Dance Centre and is constantly inspired by the rest of the OIP family of teachers! She has also hit the stage performing with Collective Exchange (contemporary company – Toronto, ON), Ballet Expressivo (contemporary ballet company – Toronto, ON) and Desiraeda Dance Theatre (contemporary company – Toronto, ON).
In August 2009, Jessica Campbell became the co-creator and artistic director of Evoke Movement Dance Theatre. This innovative contemporary company allows her to embark on a new adventure of choreography and performance. As always, Jessica continues to learn and grow as an artist, and strives to share her knowledge and experience with others through her passion for dance.
